1972 – A Dream Born from the Lake

Our story begins in 1972, when our father, passionate about sailing, along with a friend discovered this then wild and untouched place. He fell madly in love with it and decided to purchase a piece of land on the shores of Lake Trasimeno.

The Years of Reclamation and Transformation

Following the dredging of the lakebed, the Provincial Administration at the time used the resulting material to improve the internal navigation line Florence–Trasimeno–Orte. However, it was not enough: driven by passion and perseverance, our father purchased additional land at his own expense to complete the shore improvement.

This led to an important reclamation project, also recognized by the State, which gradually transformed a rough and inhospitable area into a more welcoming and harmonious place, becoming what is today Punta Navaccia.

The Early Years: A Family, a Dream

At the beginning, it was not easy at all, especially for us daughters, who were still children. Dad chased his dream with overwhelming enthusiasm, and nothing seemed able to stop him. Initially, it was almost a game: we had fun working together, welcoming the first guests, often foreigners, and experiencing the excitement of a new adventure.

Many residents of Tuoro began working with us, incredulous at a choice that seemed crazy: why invest in a then touristically unknown place, when there was already an important business in the historic center of Perugia?

The People Who Made History

In those years, special bonds were formed. Dad met Rodolfo and Pierino, precious friends and true travel companions. Among the first collaborators was Alberto, our historic night watchman, “Lupo Alberto”, who over time became a real institution. Alongside him, our mother Iole, always present and supportive, was the silent pillar of this adventure.

Guests Who Become Friends

Over time, our guests became friends. We organized dinners together, moments of genuine sharing. Alberto, “the Sheriff,” would accompany them, while I took them to Panicarola to visit Ferruccio Lamborghini, who had recently moved there. Visits to the museum, the wineries… and the privilege of seeing Mr. Lamborghini personally sign the wine bottles.

A Vision Ahead of Its Time

Dad left the historic center of Perugia for Lake Trasimeno with a clear vision: he realized already in the 1970s that the shops in the city center would suffer with the arrival of shopping malls. He was courageous, maybe against the current, but he knew how to start a new path at the right moment.

Growing Up in Punta Navaccia

We grew up here. Work became passion, love, professionalism, and even fun. And then there was our boat, Punta Navaccia, a real institution: we took guests swimming between the islands, told the story of the lake and its lands, and always returned with smiles and enthusiasm.
